Congressional District Meetings with Members of Congress
Meeting Process:
Meeting is arranged by HLC Regional Director with MOC district office.
HLC Regional Director notifies HLC-DC grassroots.
HLC-DC Grassroots Coordinator provides info to the web manager for posting on the HLC website and adds info to the Grassroots calendar.
HLC Regional Director sends a meeting alert via CongressPlus (with date, Member and district in subject line) with talking points to member company Grassroots and Washington Representatives.
Details of meeting location are not provided, as potential participants must contact regional director and participate in a briefing (or conference call) before attending a meeting.
HLC Regional Director contacts member company grassroots contacts from facility list to coordinate participation (or through the DC office if this approach is preferred by member company)
HLC Regional Director conducts pre-meeting conference call or meeting with all participants. Pre-meeting includes:
topics for discussion (review of talking points)
topics that are precluded from discussion in meetings
member value in participation
Meeting is held.
Quick e-mail or phone call to HLC-DC to report any significant events within 24 hours.
Meeting report is included in Softedge. The report is added to the journal entry previously created to announce the meeting. Do not create a new entry for the report.
Weekly report to HLC-DC includes names and representative companies, key discussion points from above and any expanded information deemed important.
Regional Directors send appropriate acknowledgment notes to participants.
Meeting photos are sent to HLC-DC with caption by date meeting report is due.
Meeting Purpose:
To allow members of Congress to see the health care industry united on key issues that improve quality and service.
To allow member companies to develop or continue dialogue with their elected officials without having to spend time and resources scheduling meetings.
To meet with members who are integral to advancing HLC’s agenda (and its member companies) on key issues.
