Stabilizing the Healthcare Marketplace and Environment

As important as it is to encourage transformative innovation, it is equally vital that health policy bring greater stability to a tumultuous legislative and regulatory environment and take steps to strengthen the healthcare system’s financial sustainability.

There are opportunities to move toward greater stability and sustainability. The next Congress should take meaningful action to improve the Affordable Care Act after years of political standoffs.   And the debate will continue, as well, on ways to strengthen the Medicare program, even if major action does not occur until after the 2016 presidential election.

Policymakers need to understand that, for private sector healthcare to be the catalyst for major change that benefits patients and consumers, companies need a policy environment that enables them to be financially stable, viable and to plan effectively for the future.
