Leading Hospital, Clinical Laboratory Experts Will Discuss Developments in Precision Medicine at Capitol Hill Briefing

The potential of precision medicine – the use of genetic data to speed the development of disease cures and individualized patient treatments – to transform American healthcare will be the subject of a Capitol Hill briefing that will feature recognized experts from two of the nation’s premier hospitals and one of the world’s largest clinical laboratories.

The briefing is hosted by the Healthcare Leadership Council, a coalition of chief executives of the nation’s leading companies and organizations from all health sectors, and will take place on Monday, April 20 at noon in Room B338 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

The briefing will be moderated by Healthcare Leadership Council President Mary R. Grealy and speakers will include:

  • Marc Grodman, M.D., Chairman, President and CEO of Bio-Reference Laboratories, Inc.
  • Robert Daber, Ph.D., Director of Research and Development and Director of Cancer Genetics for Bio-Reference Laboratories, Inc.
  • Richard Weinshilboum, M.D., Mary Lou and John H. Dasburg Professor of Cancer Genomics Research, Chair of the Division of Clinical Pharmacology, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine
  • Wendy K. Chung, M.D., Ph.D., Herbert Irving Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine, Director of Clinical Genetics, Columbia University (Practicing at New York-Presbyterian)
