Healthcare Innovation for a Better Future
HLC Members believe unequivocally that continued healthcare innovation is critical to achieving a healthcare system that is more efficient, more accessible, more effective, and of the highest quality. Confidentiality Coalition

The Confidentiality Coalition, overseen by HLC, is a broad alliance of organizations from across the healthcare industry committed to balancing the protection of confidential health information with the need for efficient, interoperable healthcare systems. With its diverse and expert membership, the Coalition is uniquely positioned to shape effective and pragmatic policies to safeguard the privacy of individuals’ data and information while facilitating the essential flow of information for the timely and effective delivery of high-quality care and healthcare innovation.

Medicare Today

HLC created and oversees Medicare Today, a trusted resource for Medicare beneficiaries. Launched in November 2004, Medicare Today provides timely information, education, and advocacy to help seniors understand and navigate Medicare options, while also mobilizing stakeholders to protect and enhance the program’s integrity.
Through Medicare Today, HLC:
- Educates seniors and caregivers on Medicare benefits and enrollment
- Provides tools to help beneficiaries make informed coverage choices
- Conducts annual surveys to measure satisfaction and inform policy
- Builds coalitions to support and protect Medicare
- Advocates for access to affordable medications and quality care
- Elevates senior voices in healthcare policy discussions
Seniors Speak Out

Seniors Speak Out is an initiative launched and administered by HLC through its Medicare Today program. It was created as a resource for older Americans, caregivers, and advocates and serves as one of HLC’s core outreach platforms.
Through Seniors Speak Out, HLC:
- Publishes weekly blogs featuring community voices, policy insights, and expert commentary aimed at Medicare beneficiaries
- Hosts webinars and Facebook Live events, such as discussions on cancer care and Medicare policy featuring HLC member experts
- Equips seniors with advocacy tools, like social media toolkits and packets targeting members of Congress, encouraging civic engagement on Medicare issues
APLAN2AGE

APlan2Age is an initiative designed to help individuals and families proactively plan for the challenges of aging. APlan2Age’s goal is to spark and support planning conversations early in the aging journey, help families coordinate complex decisions, and provide guidance that reduces uncertainty and crisis-driven decisions later on.
Through APLAN2AGE, HLC:
- Raises national awareness of the importance of proactive aging preparation, encouraging families to plan before a crisis occurs.
- Partners with healthcare organizations and industry leaders to promote best practices and shared responsibility in aging preparedness.
- Advances policy conversations that support aging-in-place, care coordination, and improved long-term services for America’s aging population.
Keep Americans Covered
Keep Americans Covered is a coalition of the health care community, representing patients, consumers, doctors, hospitals, health insurers and employers, all working together to keep health care affordable for millions of Americans.
Through Keep Americans Covered, HLC:
- Works to preserve enhanced premium tax credits and other affordability provisions that have significantly reduced the uninsured rate.
Healthcare Workforce Coalition

Healthcare Workforce Coalition is a collective voice advocating for commonsense solutions to address the severe staffing shortage in the nation’s healthcare system. The coalition aims to unite stakeholders from various disciplines and across the healthcare continuum to advocate for policies that significantly increase the number of nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals.
Through the Healthcare Workforce Coalition, HLC:
- Advocates for federal policies that strengthen the healthcare workforce pipeline across clinical and non-clinical roles, addressing shortages that threaten access and quality.
- Supports education, training, and upskilling initiatives to expand opportunities for workers, especially in underserved and rural communities.
- Promotes public-private collaboration to modernize workforce strategies and align training programs with evolving patient and system needs.
Enrollment Coalition

Enrollment Coalition is a group of organizations across the healthcare community, including consumer advocates, patient advocates, health plans, health care providers, employers, and technology and data organizations to collaboratively identify, develop, and advance actionable policy recommendations for federal policymakers aimed at improving enrollment of uninsured Americans under age 65 into existing health coverage plans and programs for which they are otherwise eligible.
Through the Enrollment Coalition, HLC:
- Works to expand access to health coverage by identifying and addressing barriers to enrollment in both public and private insurance programs.
- Supports policies and systems improvements that streamline eligibility, enrollment, and renewal processes, particularly for underserved populations.
- Collaborates with cross-sector stakeholders to develop and promote outreach strategies that raise awareness of coverage options and deadlines.
Partnership for Chronic Disease

Partnership for Chronic Disease is an internationally-recognized organization of patients, providers, community organizations, business and labor groups, and health policy experts committed to raising awareness of the number one cause of death, disability, and rising health care costs: chronic disease.
Through the Partnership for Chronic Disease, HLC:
- Promotes innovative, patient-centered strategies to prevent, manage, and treat chronic conditions across the continuum of care.
- Advocates for policies that support early intervention, care coordination, and equitable access to evidence-based prevention and treatment services.
- Highlights multi-sector solutions that integrate clinical care, community supports, and technology to improve health outcomes and reduce long-term costs.
Modern Medicaid Alliance
Modern Medicaid Alliance is a partnership between Americans who value Medicaid and leading advocacy organizations. The mission is to educate policymakers and the public about the benefits of Medicaid to the American people in terms of cost savings, health outcomes, and social impact.
Through the Modern Medicaid Alliance, HLC:
- Supports a strong, sustainable Medicaid program that delivers high-quality, value-driven care to vulnerable populations.
- Advocates for policies that protect Medicaid coverage and promote innovation in care delivery, particularly for individuals with complex health and social needs.
- Collaborates with diverse stakeholders to educate policymakers on the vital role Medicaid plays in supporting children, seniors, people with disabilities, and working families.
