Angela Banks Brings Decades of Experience Spanning Various Parts of Healthcare Industry

Washington, DC: The Healthcare Leadership Council (HLC), the leading health industry association representing CEOs and C-suite executives from all sectors, today named Angela Banks, an experienced and respected healthcare policy expert, its new Head of Policy and Advocacy. Banks brings two decades of cross-sector experience to HLC having served in leadership roles at UnitedHealth Group and AstraZeneca, among others, and most recently with the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA).

“Angela brings a tremendous breadth of experience working for various segments of the healthcare industry, and I’m excited to welcome her to HLC,” said Maria Ghazal, President and CEO of HLC. “She has a track record of being highly effective when working with key leaders in both Congress and the Administration, and understands not only how individual companies advocate in Washington, but also how an industry can lead.”

Banks joins HLC after serving as Vice President of Policy at PCMA, where she led policy strategy at the federal and state levels and spearheaded industry outreach to policymakers. Prior to PCMA she was Vice President of External Affairs at UnitedHealth Group, and served in policy, public affairs and government affairs positions at multiple pharmaceutical companies supporting the discovery, development, and commercialization of innovative therapies.

“Angela brings both the breadth and depth of experience required to effectively advocate for the healthcare industry,” said Ghazal. “As HLC continues our mission to transform and improve access to patient-centered care, I’m delighted to have Angela’s highly respected voice to lead the charge.”

“HLC affords a unique opportunity to advocate for the entire healthcare sector with one unified voice,” said Banks. “I am thrilled to be able to work with the healthcare industry’s foremost leaders to advance their shared priorities.”
