“Greater transparency will support smarter policymaking” – HLC Leader reacts to advancement of ‘Apples to Apples’ Act

HLC President and CEO Maria Ghazal released the following statement after the House Ways and Means Committee voted to advance H.R. 4093, the Apples to Apples Comparison Act:

“As Medicare continues to evolve, it is essential that beneficiaries, policymakers, and stakeholders have access to accurate and meaningful information about how different coverage options perform and what value they deliver for patients. HLC commends the House Ways and Means Committee for advancing the Apples to Apples Comparison Act because this legislation will help ensure that comparisons between Medicare Advantage and fee-for-service Medicare are based on consistent, transparent data rather than incomplete or mismatched measures.

“Greater transparency will support smarter policymaking and help seniors make more informed decisions about the coverage that best meets their healthcare needs. We thank the Committee for its leadership on this important issue and look forward to supporting its continued advancement.”
