“Strong commitment by Congress” – HLC Leader Reacts to Passage of Appropriations Package

HLC President and CEO Maria Ghazal released the following statement after the House passed the Minibus appropriations package:

“Today’s bipartisan appropriations package represents a strong commitment by Congress to advance real healthcare solutions that put patients first. By extending Medicare’s telehealth flexibilities, the hospital-at-home waiver, and supporting community health centers, lawmakers are helping ensure seniors, rural communities, and other underserved populations can continue to access timely, high-quality care.

“The package also preserves vital programs that enable hospitals to serve patients with the greatest needs, support the healthcare workforce, and strengthen the mental health and wellbeing of frontline caregivers.

“While this vote marks meaningful progress, it is not the finish line. The Senate must act swiftly to pass this bill, and both chambers should continue building on this momentum with policies that reduce cost burdens for families and preserve access to care. HLC stands ready to partner with Congress and the Administration to sustain and enhance healthcare affordability, access, and quality.”
